UPDATE-- MARCH 25, 2011

For those of you who are following Daysie's story, you will be happy to know that Daysie's journey has taken an unexpected turn. Daysie has been accepted to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Knab, Utah. We will be very sad to see her go. But we feel that we have done all we can for her both medically and mentally. Daysie still needs help to get her skin allergie's under control, and she has a lot of fears, and we don't know how to help her.
For those of you who don't know about Best Friends, they are considered to be one of the best, if not THE best animal sanctuary rescue's in the world! It is very hard to get a dog into their program. And most people that apply do not get accepted. So Daysie is VERY lucky to be going into their program! They will give her all the treatments she needs and finally get her itching and skin under control, and she will be working with some of the best dog trainers available to help her overcome some of her mental issues. Then she will be placed up for adoption. She is going to have a wonderful life! We are very sad, but very happy for her.
We will be taking Daysie to Best Friends on Sunday, March 27. So we will post pictures and an update then. Here is an updated picture of Daysie. :)

DAYSIE UPDATE!! March 14th

Daysie went to the vet today for her follow up visit, and it went very well! She had all of her stitches removed, and everything healed perfectly. We talked to the vet about her itching, (because this is still very much an issue) and she said that this can take a VERY long time to get under control. She said it is common for dogs with severe allergies like Daysie has to be itchy for many month's while we figure out which combination of foods and medications work for her. So she is now down to only 2 medications per day and now we are soaking her feet in a vinegar and water mixture every day to help control the bacteria.
Daysie has gained 5 pounds since March 2nd!!!! We could'nt believe it!! She must be feeling so much better. I know her mouth is feeling better! lol. So she is now healthy enough to be placed up for adoption. So if you or someone you know is interested in adopting Daysie, please contact us to fill out an application. She is a wonderful dog. She is 10 years young, and looking for a quiet home with no small children. She is potty trained, very smart, and she LOVES to play ball! DAYSIE'S SURGERY UPDATE- MARCH 3RD

Daysie had her surgery yesterday, and everything went very well. She had a total of 4 large masses removed, 2 painful broken teeth removed, and a full dental. She has a TON of stitches everywhere, and she has to wear an E-Collar so that she does not lick her wounds. She seems to be resting comfortably due to her much needed pain medication. She will need to eat only soft food for 2 weeks, and she will go in for a follow-up visit in 10 days. Here are some of the "After Surgery Pictures".
